Search Companion Starts If You Double-Click a Folder
SYMPTOMS
- If you double-click a drive or folder, Search Companion may start and the drive or folder may not open. If you configure settings for other actions that are associated with drives or file folders (for example, Open Command Window Here or Print Directory Listing), Windows may perform one of these actions instead of starting Search Companion.
CAUSE
-
This problem occurs when you open the Edit File Type dialog box for the Drive or File Folder registered file types. For example, this problem occurs for folders if you complete the following procedure: 1. Open the folder, and then click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
2. Click File Folder in the Register file types list, and then click Advanced.
3. After you perform this procedure, the None setting is removed from the value data for the Default string value in the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
NOTE: This problem occurs even if you do not create a new action, edit existing actions, or change the default action in the Edit File Type dialog box.
RESOLUTION
-
To resolve this problem, edit the registry to set the value data for the Default string value in the registry keys that are described in the “Cause” section of this article to none:
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate and then click the Default value under the following keys in the registry if this problem occurs with folders: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
If this problem occurs with drives: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
3. Click Modify on the Edit menu.
4. Type none in the Value data box, and then click OK.
5. Quit Registry Editor.
I had the same issue come up today and this article fixed the issue.

New Job
I went to Crouse and did all the paper work for the new job. I got my PPD read and it was negative. I have a 2 day orientation then on Wednesday I start up in the NES department. The job title is Network Engineer. It entails computers, server, and layer 1 and layer 2 devices.

The weather sucked today. It was heavy slushy snow. It was slow going home today. There is a travel advisory issued for Onondaga County until tomorrow.

New Job
Well I went to Crouse and had the physical, drug test, and PPD test. It was about an hour from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. I have to go back there on wednesday and get the PPD read and meet with the human resource lady. I should start on Monday March 3rd for orientation. This is very cool. I am glade that OCC ended my contract and I took the 6 week contract at Carrols so that I would be able take the job at Crouse. OCC and Carrols gave me the experience that I needed.

Today and Monday
Today I had to go and install a printer for this guy and show him how to add his music to his Apple Ipod. Andy went with me because I wouldn’t be able to find the place. After that we went to lunch. Tomorrow I have to go to Crouse and get my Physical and Drug test and PPD done so that should be one more step closer to starting at Crouse Hospital.
