Day 2 of on Call
I have four more computers that need to be installed. I have two computers that are at the hospital and then another two at a remote site. One of the computers that is going to a remote site is going to be a pain because various users use that computer and you have to coordinate with them and to get their password and create their profile. The computer refresh is going smoothly and there are no troubles.
Today when I was installing a computer in a department the end users were complaining because their computers were not on the refresh list and they wanted LCD monitors for their desk. What complainers. This went on for 5 minutes and you have to explain to them that their computers weren’t on the refresh list because they weren’t bought on this month. I told them to call my manager or go have a Ergo assesment if it is bothering them so badly. They ended up putting a ISR out for two LCD monitors to be put in place for loaners.

Day 1 of On Call
I am on PC refresh this week. There is 15 computers that need to be refreshed. My supervisor Jason has done the configuring them, but I have to install them and do the last part of setup. Today when I came into work our portal page wasn’t working. It wasn’t working because a very important server had a hardware issue. Our System administrator and my Supervisor spent the day trying to rebuild the server and retrieve the data from the backups. This Monday was not a fun day for the web developer and systems administrator.
I got 6 computers installed today. I was trying to get 8 installed but I kind of fell short of my goal today. The manager of the clinical information systems wanted me to go around to all of the carts that I installed last week and tighten the tension on the carts so it is easier for them to put them up or down. I really don’t have time for that because I have a lot of computers to install.

Kontera Plugin for WordPress
If you use Kontera on your blogs then you want to download the Kontera Plugin. You can download the plugin on their website. Instead of putting the code on your website let the plugin do it for you. You can also change settings on the fly. They have made a short tutorial to make integration a snap.

I use this for my websites and it is a good way to get extra income. I don’t make a lot of money. I have only made $4 something, but it is still money that you are earning.
Boring Weekend
This weekend has been very boring. I didn’t do anything on Friday or almost all of Saturday. I remoted in and looked at the kind of tickets that are coming out at work and it has been quiet this weekend. It is also a quiet week for any oncall calls. It probably won’t be quiet when I am on call. It seems like it goes that way. Today I signed up for Clickbank. Clickbank is a affiliate network like Comission Junction. I will search on google or something to see what I can do with it.
I got a call around 9 from Andy that everyone was at Jay’s mothers house. They have been there since 6. Thank you for calling me earlier. It is all good.
New WordPress 2.6 is out
A new version of WordPress has been out for about a week. I have upgraded two of my sites. I like the word count, and the revisions section. If I am doing a post that has a word count restriction this is a good feature. You also have a Press This bookmark you can add to your toolbar that provides a fast and smart popup to do posts to your WordPress blog. Here is a video that people from WordPress created. The best plugin to have for you blog is called Automatic Upgrade. This will save you time.
Manlius police release mug shots in Barenaked Ladies drug charge
Here are Mug shots of the Barenaked Ladies lead singer and guitarist Steven Page with girlfriend Christine Benedicto and Stephanie M. Ford . They were arrested on Friday morning on a felony drug charge in Benedicto’s Fayetteville apartment. Page was in possession of more than a quarter ounce of cocaine. Police witnessed suspicious activity through a window of the apartment and were let in by Ford.
The three of them are stupid. They should be on the tv show worst criminals ever. The girlfriend parked on the sidewalk and left the doors open. The friend and Steven Page was doing drugs at the Kitchen table and the police saw right through the window.
Almost done
I have deployed all of the COWS that I needed to. I deployed all 18 of them. The nurse managers were not ready to receive them but we can’t store all 35 COWS that needed to be deployed. Some of them wanted them to be stored someplace because they don’t go live with a project until September or something like that. I say why not use the COWS until then so you guys are more familiar with them. The nurses have to go to a 4 hour training class on them. The first batch of 15, we brought over to Marley which is across the street. That was really fun. I am almost done. I just have to do the paper work on them and then give the PC names to the asset manager.
I went to the B2 last night. I stayed around 9:30 PM. I drank couple of beers and had some food. It is pretty good for 10 dollars.
What a COW looks like
Here is what a cow or computer on wheels looks like. This COW has a laptop on it. Some COWS have standard desktops on them or they also have mini computers in them. These laptops are IBM Lenovos. I had to put 18 laptops into the carts. They also have an extended battery pack in the cart. I have to add the network printer to them and the final step is to deliver them.
They are very nice and sturdy carts. They are very easy to roll around. You just don’t want to pick them up because the carts have a car battery in them. It will probably take me to Wednesday or Thursday to install the printers and then deliver them to the floors.
Here is the keyword of the day Mac memory. Everyone needs memory for their computer. At this website, you can buy all different kinds of memory not just apple memory. Memory is really cheap these days. When you get a new computer you want a lot of memory. I would check this website out and see if you can get a good deal on memory.

What’s New
I will be on call next week so I will start the on call posts again. I have been setting up and ghosting the cows that are suppose to go on the nursing floors. There are around 18 cows that is suppose to go out the door. I started setting them up yesterday.
I went to the gym with Andy last night. My body acks now because I haven’t gone in a long time. I also just upgraded WordPress today, which went smoothly. I use the plugin Automatic Upgrade and it works wonderful when doing a upgrade.
