Don’t be afraid of change

You don’t want to be afraid of change or you are going to be left behind. Here is example for everyone. I moved from my parent’s house to an apartment. Yes I was afraid but I think it was the best choice that I made. My next step is to buy a house. The house would be mine and I can do anything I want in the house.

Also in work you don’t want to be afraid. You want to embrace the change and apply it to your job. This will make you a stronger person and a more valuable employee for your organization. What does everyone think? Do you think people are afraid of change in their personal life and at work?

Facebook and your content

Facebook is reverting back to the old policy where it says we own our own content instead of facebook owning it. I don’t know what the hell Facebook was thinking when they said they were going to own it. They had a huge back lash about their new policy. I am glade people spoke out about it.

This is what CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the companies spokeman said about the terms “it was never our intention to confuse people or make them uneasy about sharing on Facebook,” company spokesman Barry Schnitt said in a blog post. “I also want to be very clear that Facebook does not, nor have we ever, claimed ownership over people’s content. Your content belongs to you.”

They are also going to reword the terms of use to be more simpler for people to read. I am just glade they listened to the people and reverted back to the old terms. Someone created a Facebook group that had more then 64,000 people that signed up to it. That is a lot of people. People were also canceling their accounts of this.

The new gold rush

You want to know what the new gold rush is. It is making an Iphone app and selling it. This is un tapped space on the internet. If people like your iphone app you can make some serious cash. Look at the Ifart with in a week or two it was number 1 and making him loads of money. If I had some good programming skills and an Iphone I would try and make an Iphone app. Would you do the same?

Microsoft needs your help!!!

Microsoft needs your help in catching the makers of the Conficker or Downadup virus. They are offering $250,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of hackers behind a powerful computer virus that could lead to millions of PCs being hijacked. That is a lot of money and they are serious about finding these people or person. I wrote a post about this virus on January 16, 2009. If you want to read it then Click Here. It mainly strikes the corporate networks, but you should download and install the patch that Microsoft has put out. You can get the patch by Clicking Here. So what are you waiting for? Be your own individual on Twitter

Do you know how to be your own individual on Twitter? To be your own individual on Twitter you want to create a customized background. I just created a new background image. It was really easy to do. The tutorial that I used to create my background was from www.searchforblogging.com. The demensions of the image was 1255 x 555.

Octuplet Mother – what is your take on it?

The women that had the 8 babies I think was the wrong thing to do. She already had 6 other children living at her mother’s house. I think the women’s state of mind is off the chart. The doctor that did the fertility treatment should be disbarred from practicing medicine. I just watched a cnn video about this woman. She is getting food stamps, and getting government aid for at least 3 of her children because they have a disability. She is going to school to get her Masters degree but wait she has a website asking for donations. I think she is going to turn this into a cash cow and get the best deal to tell her story. Her publicist said that the book deals and everything like that is rolling in. It is just shameful about this woman. She is also $50,000 in debt. What is everyone thinking about this?

How to backup your blog

It is very important to backup your blog’s data. You don’t want loose any of your data. There are two things that you need to do to backup the data. You need to backup the database and you need to backup the web site files.

How to backup the database files

Your web hosting company should have a application called phpMyAdmin. If you don’t have this then ask your web host to download it and install it onto the shared hosting or dedicated server. This will save you a lot of time to import sql files.

This is what the home page looks like when you first go into it.

You then want to pick the database that you want to export to sql file. I will pick my blogs database on the left hand side. At the root of the database you want to click on the Export link. This will pick all the tables that are in the database.

This shows the root of the database listing all of the tables that are in the database.

This screen is where you will pick the tables that you want to save to an SQL file. By default it selects all of the tables because we did the export at the root of the database. You then want to click on the check box save as file, and the final set is to hit the GO button. You will then pick the file location to save it and you can also put a different title so you can review it easy.

You should pick a schedule and stick with it. When I do a major change I will to a full backup of the database, and I will also do a full backup of the website files. You can also get a WordPress plugin that will email you your database. That will be good to do everyday because your website changes all of the time.

How to backup the web site files

All you have to do is pick your favorite FTP application and connect to your website. The next step that I like to do is highlight all files in the root directory and click the download button to download all the files that are in the whole folder for your website.

New Version of WordPress is out

I downloaded the new version 2.7.1 which is a maintenance release. I had to turn off WordPress Automatic Upgrade to get WordPress to automatically install the new version. It worked out very good. It went without a problem. I think everyone should upgrade their version of WordPress. This version fixes 68 problems.

Steroids in Baseball

I just heard and watched the news about A-Rod or Alex Rodriguez admission to taking steriods when he was with Texas Rangers during 2001 to 2003. The baseball union should be shammed with its self. They said they were going to destroy the names and they didn’t start from scratch. Why did they only release one name when there was 104 people on the list. If they were going to release a name they should put all of the names out. I think a lot of heads are going to turn.

They should set harder punishment to people who take steriods because a lot of kids look up to the sport. I think from 2000 to now I think We lost baseball. The baseball teams are throwing out a lot of money and I think this is the number one reason a lot of players are trying to be the best but doing it in the wrong way. What is everyones take on this?
