Getting paid to take a survey

I got a survey in the mail but ddin’t take it because it looked long and I didn’t have the time to take it. The company called me asked if I would take the survey over the phone. I said sure I was willing to do that. I took the survey it wasn’t that long but I am glade I did it over the phone. After taking the survey the lady asked if I was on my cell phone and I said yes because my cell is my primary phone. The lady said they were going to send me $5 because for my time and also I was on my cell phone. Here is the check that I got from them. You can make money from taking a survey. Again it is not a lot of money but it is something. It is $5 more then I had before.

On Call Saturday

I didn’t get called in but I got a phone call from operations. I just had them reboot the computer and it took care of the problem. I was also on the phone witha vendor. It didn’t work on my work the application but after doing couple of different things it finally worked on my personal computer. It still doesn’t work on the work computers. I don’t know what is going on with them. We still need to investigate more of that. I was talking with the director of support to get it working. I had to open another connection to a different server then I was able to get into the regular server so that was weird in its self.

Update to a application

I had to update a application yesterday. It took 2 hours to do. I don’t know about you but a application should not take two hours. I ended up having to do it twice. This time it took 4 hours. There was a bug in early release of the update so I had to rerun the update. It sucked, but I was able to log in after the 2nd update. I will end up calling the user and see if it works for them.

Would you help if you saw something happening?

I was watching ABC one night and they did bunch of scenarios on would some do something if they saw something like a baby trapped in a car. Would you do something? I would call 911 if I saw something happening that wasn’t right. It was interesting to see what people would do. I created a poll for everyone. I already voted Yes I would do something.

On Call and Work

II haven’t been called in for anything. It is mid week so I thought it would be good time to do an on call post and work post all bundled into one post. At work we are trying something new where the on call person is the triage person where they will field the calls where they will work on calls that can be done remotely or at the desk and prioritize the other tickets that can’t be done at the desk. This is the 2nd week of doing it. I think it is good because it gets you talking on the phone with the users, asking questions, really doing something different then just running tickets. What I mean by running tickets is picking the ticket out of the queue and then going to do the ticket. It is help desk for our group. In life you need experience talking on the phone and communicate with the end user face to face. Talking on the phone to the end user and communicating face to face is all ways good to have practice with. This is good experience for an IT person and I am glade we are doing it.

Michael Phelps smoked pot from a bong

Who the hell cares if Michael Phelps smoked pot from a bong. A lot of kids are doing it or have done once in their lives. I know it was big mistake from him but the pictures was taken in 2004. Someone probably made a lot of money off of those pictures. It was in 2004 so give him the break that he won’t do it again. In the CNN post the attorney said go get drug tested to prove that you are clean which I think is a great idea. That way you can tell your sponsors that you are not doing the behavior that was in your past. What does everyone else think about this?

Brew Fest Pictures

I went to the Brew Fest on Saturday with all my friends. It very good times. The price to get in was $30. You had a wide selection of different kind of beers. They were filling the glasses up all the way at the end of the night. Some people bought the pint glasses for $5 or they gave you a free small glass. It was fun. I didn’t like when we were trying to get out of the place. I saw a fight broke out outside and people pissing out side in straight view. Someone also threw road cone at cars. I think if you can’t handle your alcohol then don’t be drinking.

My digital camera died so I only took two pictures with that and the rest of the pictures I took with my cell phone. I didn’t bring extra batteries with me. I brought it which counts, but I didn’t bring extra batteries.
