What can we learn from the Deadliest Catch

Have you ever watched the tv show on the discovery channel called the Deadliest Catch? This is a great reality show showing fisherman fishing on the bering sea. I like the show. On the bering sea it is hell for them, but they keep on fishing in the hellish conditions.
1. Don’t see the little picture look for the big overall picture.
2. When it gets tough push on and you will overcome anything.
3. Be looking for your next opportunity.
4. You need to be on the look out for any danger.
5. You should like to be on a boat.
6. You should also like the water and the cold.
I will leave it in your hands. What can we learn from the people on the Deadlist Catch?

They upped my Student Loan on me
I got my billing statement for my student loan and they changed the rate on me. It was $87 and now it is $102.13. It sucks when you see that. I am in a variable interest rate. That is my problem. I can still pay for it but it just sucks that the interest rate changed and the upped the price on it. They are some greedy bastards.
I can’t believe that some people that went to private university where they are paying $100,000 + to go. Their student loans must be really high. Hopefully they got a lot of scholarships and their parents helped pay for it. I went to a NY state college for my two year and four year degree. It wasn’t a bad college. The class sizes were small, and the teachers knew who you are. I lived on campus for two years and drove back and forth for my other two years. I lived about 30 minutes away from school.
Random Pictures Today
Here are some pictures that I took from my cell phone. They are from Quaker Steak and Lube, and a Bonfire party that we had on Saturday. It was all you can eat wing night. It has been a long time since we have been here. It was fun to hang out my friends. We had around 30 wings, but my friend went to the bathroom in the middle and he had over 40 wings. I think he cheated. What do you think? They have all different types of motor sports type vehicles hanging from the ceiling which is pretty cool.

Have you wondered the retweet rank of someone?
I also got this website from the same webinar that I got Stuff To Tweet from. The website is called ReTweetrank. It will show you 10 of the highest people that had their tweets retweeted. You can also search for someone and see their retweet rank. If you don’t know what a retweet is it is when you say what someone else says but in your tweet you put RT @username of the person then their tweeter message. Here is a retweet message someone posted about Shoemoney tweet “Hot. RT @shoemoney: danica patrick – hot or not ?”. It is not a bad website to look around if you have nothing better to do on a lazy weekend.
Here is what John Chow’s Retweetrank looks like. I won’t post mine because I don’t have one. I am not that popular.

John Chow’s Website is down

Yesterday I tried going to John Chow and it was down. Again I tried and it was still down. This is not good for any one making a living off of their web site. Here is what John had to say about it “Wow! My blog is still down. This is taking way too long. I guess the server admins don’t work on Sunday.” I think this is bad for any webhosting company because John Chow is one of the biggest bloggers on the internet. This makes them look bad. I hope John Chow has some good backups if the server took a hit. His webhosting provider is www.bluefur.com.
This goes in saying you should be making some backups just incase something bad happens to the server that you are on. If you are on a shared hosting, or a VPS account you are still on a hosted server and should be making backups of your data. It wouldn’t be fun paying for your webhost to backup your data for you.
Update
John Chow finallly got his site back up. It took the web hosting company Bluefur a long time to get the website back up. In one of John’s Tweets he said “ETA for John Chow dot Com to be back online is 4 hours”. John Chow also said “It seems the server boot files have corrupted. @BlueFur is doing a new OS reload. Hopefully, the blog will be back toady”. I would think the web hosting company would have someone on call 24/7 if a server goes down, but I guess not.
Find stuff to Tweet About
Here is a website where you can find things to tweet about. The website has columns for the most popular social bookmarking websites. You can also find the most popular videos on Youtube. I found about this website yesterday when I was listening to a webinar. The website is called Stuff To Tweet. I just used it today to tweet about something that I saw. If you want to get your tweets retweeted then this website might be for you. I just wanted to share what I found. The information on this website might also help you get a new post idea for your blog or website.
Active Desktop Recovery Fix
I had a user that couldn’t get the desktop back and I had to use this to get it back. You could also just recreate their profile to get the desktop back. Here is a picture what your user will see if the Active Desktop doesn’t work.

1. Go to the registery and find the the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\SafeMode\Components
2. Change the value of DeskHtmlVersion to Zero
3. Reboot the PC and log back in as the user to verify the desktop background is showing correctly.
Your desktop should be back to normal. This has worked for me and it should work for you. If you are in a network where the domain users are users then you need to give them local administrative rights to get this to work. Once the desktop shows back to normal then you take the administrative rights away.
Have a good Friday
I just wanted to say have a good Friday because the weekend is here. I can’t do anything fun because I am on call this weekend. So have fun for me.
Do you use Intext Advertising on your website or Blog?
Do you use Intext Advertising on your website or blog? There are a lot of different advertising networks that you can use. On this blog I was using Kontera and then stopped because one of the other ad networks said I couldn’t use it on their posts, but I do use it on my other blogs that I have. Have you guys made any money with them? All I have made are pennies with Kontera. I think my total with them is around $3 something. I just wanted to know how everyone is doing with Intext Ads.
The money is in your program, product, or mailing list

You know how the big bloggers make their money. They make their money by creating their own blogging program, product, or a mailing list. You are in control and you can set your own price tag on your program or product. When you create your mailing list they say for every person on your mailing list you make $1 off of them. That can be pretty good if you have a lot of people on your list. You can make good money off your ads on your website but you can also make even better money with your program, product, or mailing list.
If you have a idea then you should write it done and come up with a product. The product can be a e-book that you sell to your visitors. You don’t need to set the price high. Just look at Deneil Merritt, just today he reveiled his new product that he is selling for $9.95. His product is how to Jump start your mailing list by blog commenting. A lot of people would want this because they want to build their list up.
Bloggers are coming up with different programs. The most current programs out there are David Riseley with his Blog Masters Club, and Yaro Starak with his blog mastermind. Yaro Starak I think is the king of programs. He had three successful program launches. He tells you he has made a lot of money from these membership programs that he sells.
I have been working on my own mailing list for couple of months. It is not where I want it to be but I am still working on it. Like I said before in this post for every person on your mailing list you make $1 off of them. You don’t want to bombard your mailing list with get rich schemes or every email is about selling something to them. I like Aweber as my mailing list provider because there are a lot of people using it and it dashboard is really easy to use.
