Christmas Party Last Saturday

I went to an awesome party last Saturday. There were great friends, great food, and all around good time. Here is a picture from the party. Everyone be safe out there for the Christmas Holiday,

What is everyone doing for the holiday? I have Friday off, and I took off Monday. We are going to open gifts at my parents house on Friday.

Motorola Droid Battery Cover Problems

The only big problems I see with the Motorola Droid is the battery cover that comes off. I had this happen once when I was at a party. The night before I had it happen twice in one day. I saw on a forum you can go to https://www.motorola.com/feedback.jsp to contact them about your battery cover falling off. They also have a live chat to support that you can use, and the phone number you can call. If you need to do any of the three here is another web page that you can Contact them by going to https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/utils/chat.

I sent them an email and the next day I got this response from them:

Dear Greg,

Thanks for reaching out to Motorola. I’ve reviewed your e-mail and I’m ready to help.

Thank you for contacting Motorola e-mail support.

Best Regards,

I think that kind of sucks that the cover was designed wrong and now they have a better design which is good. I am glade that if you have problems with your cover they are going to replace it with the better design. What I did to correct the problem for the time is take some paper and fold it about 3 times and it keeps the cover on tight. I also went on ebay and bought my self a case, car charger, another USB cable, and a protective screen for it for $8 with free shipping.

There are also other techniques people are doing to take care of the problem. Other people have put black electrical tap on the back cover. People also have bent the tabs on the cover a little to secure it, and there is a little metal where the cover slides into at the top of the battery compartment they have bent this outward a little also. I think these techniques we shouldn’t be doing because we bought this phone for $199 and it should be perfect. Anyone else having the same issues? People also have talked with Verizon and they won’t do anything about it.

Motorola Droid Apps that I think Are Awesome

There are some really great apps that you can find for you android phones from the market place. I wanted to share with you some of the cool apps that I have found. There are probablly alot more apps that I haven’t found yet.

Meebo IM – Meebo IM is a instant messaging client that works for all messaging networks. I use AIM from time to time and it worked out great.

Twidroid – Twidroid is a Twitter Client. It does what it is suppose to. The only thing I don’t like about it is it starts up every time I restart the phone.

Picasa – I like to send all of my pictures that I take to Picasa. You have to install a Pipe for the picasa upload, but after you install the pipe Picasa works great. I like to upload my pictures to Picasa then download so I can upload them to my blog.

Pandora – This app is great. It works like the same on the Iphone. You can take your Pandora Stations anywhere you go now.

FlashLight – FlashLight is a cool flash light app that works great. Sometimes I need a flash light when looking at a computer and this has helped.

Advance Task Killer – When you need to turn off an app then this program is what you are looking for.

What applications do you think are awesome? This is just a few apps that I use and I know there will more apps that I think are awesome. I will keep this post updated when I find some more great apps for the Motorola Droid.

Went to See the Movie Avatar

I went to the movies to see the movie Avatar. I have to say it was really good. I like the special effects, but I really wished I saw it in 3D. In the movie you have your battle scenes and your love scenes. It is good for the whole family. It is pretty long over 2 hours so if you have little ones then this might be a problem. I had this problem when I brought my sisters kids to see it. My nephew was fine but my niece was having a little problem with the length of it.

The special effects is the best out there, but for 500 million it should be. When we went to see the 2D version of it there wasn’t a whole lot of people in the theater. I think the majority of people went to see the 3D version. In total because it was during the day I spent $30 on 4 tickets and then my mom bought a large bottle of water and a large popcorn for $12. It was a little high on the food, but it is going to be like that anyways. I think everyone should go out and watch it.

Here is the trailer for it.

Some Pictures from Friday 12/18/2009

Here are two pictures that I took with my Motorola Droid on Friday. The Syracuse Fire Truck on was when I was leaving to go to work this morning. The other one was a Christmas basket of cookies that my manager got the whole team. These things were really good. I had over 4 of them and took about 6 home.

Motorola Droid Battery Life

I think with the new firmware update that verizon pushed out to the phones it has worked for the battery life. With my phone I can go about two days without charging it. During Monday through Friday I am at work so I am not on it a lot. I have emails being pushed to the phone. I will do light browsing of the internet and facebook during lunch on the phone. I haven’t really utilized the Google Navigation on the phone.

Here are some ways to save Battery life on your Motorola Droid

Use a Task Manager application on your Motorola Droid. The one that I use to quit the application that I don’t want to run is called Advance Task Killer. This is a free app in the market place.

You want your blue tooth, wireless, and GPS off if you are not going to be using them. This is a good idea to save battery life. I only use the wireless when I am uploading a YouTube video. I do have a blue tooth headset but I don’t use it. Again with the GPS I only used a couple of times to test it out. If I was planning a long trip then I would use it.

You also want to move the display brightness all the way to 0. I have it set to 0 and it is still bright to see everything that I need to. You also want to turn the screen Time Out something that you like, but you shouldn’t have it set to never sleep. I have mine set to sleep in 2 minutes. This has worked for me.

How to Add Your Music to your Motorola Droid

verizon-motorola-droid-press_1

When I first got my motoroloa Droid I was wondering that same question. The questions is how to add your music to your new phone that you bought. I searched and actually found the answer online.

If you have Windows or a MAC it is the same concept but you are going to use different applications to sync your music.

You want to plug the USB cable into the phone and the other end plugs into the computer.

Now drag down the notification bar on your phone and select “USB Connected.”

Touch the “Mount” button/icon on your Droid’s screen. This will allow your phone to be mounted onto your computer.

Here are the list of applications you can download so you can transfer your digital files to your Motorola Droid.

iTuneMyWalkman 0.955 for the MAC
iTunes Agent for Windows
Salling Media Sync for the MAC
DoubleTwist for the MAC and Windows
Motorola Media Link for Windows

I have only used one of the applications that I posted and it was the salling Media Sync and it worked fine. I clicked on the playlist that I wanted and it synced them. The only bad thing with the free version is that it will erase and add them every time you want to sync your music.

When you are done syncing your media files make sure you unmount your phone by pulling the notification window down and unmount.

Wedding Invitations / Wedding Reminders

wedding_reminders

I thought this was great what my friends did for their wedding they sent out a wedding reminder / save a date magnets. This is really cool idea to do. It is like a wedding invitations for your friends, and they know when your wedding is so they have enough time to set their date for your wedding. When I have a wedding I am going to do a wedding reminder / save a date magnet because I think it is a great idea. This will also draw a lot more people to your wedding. What do you think about the wedding reminders / save a date magnets?

Awesome Party This Weekend

I went to a party on Saturday which was really fun. There was a lot of people at it. They had drinking games like beer pong, and flip cup. They had a lot of food which tasted great. I was on call so I couldn’t drink any beer or liquor. Here is a video I took with my Droid. The video was taken at night on a porch when my friends were playing flip cup.
