Are you a dofollow blog?

Most blogs are not a dofollow because they don’t want to get spammed. I think all blogs will get spammed anyway you look at it. You should put your comments in moderation and run Akismet on it. You should be looking at your blog posts very closely. You can get a WordPress plugin that will take the nofollow out of your links that way search engines will follow the links that your readers will post.
You will give your readers something special that a lot of other blogs are not doing. Regular blog owners will be more receptive to comment on your blog. If you also install commentluv they will really love you. On my blog I run a dofollow and I also have the commentluv plugin installed. I think more people should comment on this blog then. I dont get a lot of comments on this blog.
If you are a dofollow blog please post a comment with your blog URL. If you run a commentluv blog please post a blog URL. If you are not a dofollow blog then why are you not making your blog a dollow?

I do agree that all blogs get spammed, but I think dofollow blogs are much more likely to be “victims” of spam. My blog is not dofollow at the moment, but I am considering making the change soon.

I recently installed the plugin 140 follow on my blog and it makes it so any comment 140 characters or greater is given dofollow automatically.
This encourages comments and makes sure they’re not just junk

That is a pretty cool plugin. Thanks for sharing it. Greg Ellison
My blog is DoFollow – and CommentLuv enabled too

Maybe that’s why I have almost 250 comments (including my own replies, I don’t know how to find out how many comments excluding my own), in 1.5 months of blogging.

I have only 616 Comments but my spam is around 8,107. Greg Ellison
My blog is no-follow. The reason I don’t make it do-follow is that I am a part time blogger and I don’t have a time to check all the comments. I am lucky enough to not get many spam. Till date I have got only 400 spam comments whereas the total number of legitimate comments are 500+. I personally reply each and every comment. I consider making my blog interactive, I want to make sure that all the commentators are equal to me.
I am a part time blogger and I work a full time job. That doesn’t mean you can’t give some link love to your fellow visitor. Greg Ellison
I know, why is that? Why are so many people afraid of spam comments? Akismet gets all mine (which actually isn’t even a lot!). I would rather have a ‘do follow’ (which I do BTW) and chance a few spams then to lose out on all the link luv!

I didn’t get you. I guess you wrote “can” instead of “can’t”. Sorry if I sound bit odd in my comment. I mean to say that I do not want to spend so much of time in replying the comment and approving it. I forgot to mention that I blog from mobile.
I guess now you can understand how tough it is to reply each and every comment from your mobile phone.
I forgot to mention that I do use commentluv plugin and I do give linky love to my friends in my own unusual way.lol
@Ricky Yes I missed typed. I didn’t know you blog through your mobile phone. I bet that has to be hard thing to do. At least like you said you do have commentluv enabled. Greg Ellison
Love Comment Luv, makes life so much easier for everyone…plus you make the adsense revenue so it is a win-win
I agree with you Greg on trying to keep our blogs spam-free. For this single purpose all of my blogs are also nofollow. Even though there’s some people I can trust there are still a bunch of people who are only commenting to receive a backlink. In some extreme cases they also link to a spamsite which is not very good for your computer.

Ever since I switched my blog to “dofollow”, reasonable amount of comments came in, I’m not sure though which ones are just after the link love since I’m also using CommentLuv. But because I’m giving back to my commenters what they deserve as my appreciation, I make sure that I only approve sensible comments and not just plain “great post” or “thank you” posts which are all lame. I never had a problem though with spam, I gave up Akismet big time in place of WP-SpamFree which was very powerful. Although splogs can still penetrate, it’s way better than Akismet because it auto-deletes drug-related and malicious comments that Akismet can’t block. I even created a post about it. The drawback about setting a blog to “dofollow” is the increase of comment spam count but it has never been an problem to me.

No follow that just the way I set it up to begin with, considering changing as now the word is goolge will not hurt you for this and it might actually help. Seems the net is divided at this time but seeing and hearing about more switching to dofollow.
Might try that 140 plugin above that sounds like a good reword for commentors.

Hey Greg!
Very intersting post. I am a new blogger and don’t totally understand all the terms. I have installed the commentluv on my blog. I like that plug in. After reading all the comments I don’t know whether to do a dofollow or no follow. I have a feeling that my blog is a nofollow as I didn’t change any settings for it.
I am a part time blogger with a full time job. My goal would be to do this full time. I enjoy doing it and wish I had more time to spend on blogging. Well maybe someday.

I have a 10 blog all of them is no-follow attribute and even the site is no=follow there still posted on my blog I don’t know maybe because they still rank on other search engine like Yahoo.com

CommentLuv is amazing. I use it on all of my blogs and it really does increase the amount of REAL comments from readers, as there is an incentive for them to post. I like how you can post your name for a link. Thanks for the post.
good plugin, i like comment luv for dofollow my blog
I have just made my blog dofollow. I followed an instruction I found online about removing the nofollow attribute on my blogger’s html page. I did that so I think I am dofollow now. If anyone wants to post comments on my blog, you are more than welcome.
@greg – you are the first dofollow blog where I posted a comment. Nice photo. Did you take that one?
