I am new to list building and just got AWeber. Until I get more familiar with how it all works, I'll be deleting my unsubscribers. As I understand it all better and get more subscribers, I'll do as Karin suggested and use that information to analyze and improve.

Your post really answered the exact questions I had.

Thank you both!

@Karin H. Thanks for that information about the confirmation people will be gone after 30 days.

@Khaled The benefit is that they have more resources then we do. They know how to send email to users and they are good at deliverying your email instead of getting it in the spam folders. If you use their blog broadcast it will raise your RSS feedcount for the number of users that are on your email list. Also the dashboard and creating your first list is very easy. I waited and waited and finally just jumped and bought a membership. I should have created a email list from the start. You live and learn.

What's the benefit in using Aweber over subscribe 2 or one of the other free Wordpress newsletters plugins? Did you try one first or go straight for a paid option.

I think this is definately an important step as you get close to the next pay increase on aweber. Because they still count the people who have subscribed but never confirmed as far as I remember.

One problem with deleting unsubscribers from your list is that you also delete the statistics.

Wouldn't you like to know on which follow-up message most unsubscribed? Instead of deleting them, you are better off using these stats to edit/tweak your messages flow. Perhaps change the title of a follow-up message, or change the interval between messages?

First tweak, then - as last resort - delete your unsubscribers. You are throwing away valuable information too, so instead of saving money you're losing out.
