How to speed up your WordPress blog
There are different ways to increase the speed of your WordPress blog. I would start with your plugins and deactivate all of them. You want to check the speed of your blog without the plugins. After you are done checking the speed of your blog without the plugins then you want to activate the plugins one by one.
I would also check your theme maybe it is slowing your blog down. I would comepare the time from the theme that you are using to a theme that originally came with the WordPress install without plugins. To see how long it takes.
You also want to download a plugin for Mozilla called Firebug. This will show the number of requests to the website and the speed in which it downloaded it. This is a very good visual. I also tried to clear the internet explorer temp files, history, and cookies, but it didn’t help.
The plugins that slowed my admin section down was my flickr plugins which it uses light box. I don’t use flickr anymore but I just deactivated them and if I start to use flickr again I will search for an updated version. How many people had a slowness in their blogs?
It is very easy to rack up the plugins that you have in your blog. I also deleted all my inactive plugins because I haven’t used them in such a long time. It is probably good idea to delete old themes that you don’t use anymore. It is a good idea maybe do a routine clean up of your plugins, and themes once a month so your website doesn’t get bloated with files.
