What is a Mailing List?

mailbox1

Other bloggers are saying the money is in the list. You will see this a lot. What is this list that they are talking about. The list is a mailing list. The mailing list is a list where people subscribe to and they will receive emails about a certain topic in a perticular niche.

There are different ways to create a list. You have free options or you can pay for a company to host your list. This is what I am doing. With the free options you really don’t know if your emails are going to get through the spam filters.

Hopefully this post was helpful on what is a mailing list and what options you have to make a mailing list. In my next post I am going to show you what Aweber looks like. If you haven’t seen it already.

There are a lot of free mailing lists that you download and install on your shared hosting. The best free email list is called PHPLIST. It takes some time to setup, but it is very good.

There are also a lot of paid companies that will host your mailing list. I used a company to host my mailing list because I don’t need to host it. I don’t have a lot of resources incase my email gets blacklisted. Here are three really good ones.

The first one that I am going to talk about is called Aweber Communications. This is the company that I use. The intro price to start your mailing list is $19 for 500 subscribers. Which is not bad but there are cheaper ones. I like Aweber because they have videos to help you and a big knowledge base. It seems like a lot of other people use them. If I need help I think there are bunch of people out there that can help me.

The second company is called MailChimp. Their intro price for 500 subscribers is $10 a month. This is cheaper then Aweber. They also have a webinars, a knowledge base, and tutorials just like Aweber.

The third company is GetResponse. Their intro price is $17.95 for a month. They also have a knowledge base with webinars, and tutorials. You get unlimited email marketing campaigns, autoresponders, follow-ups, lists and broadcasts. With Get Response there is no limit on the subscribers that you get signed up to your mailing lists. I didn’t see a set amount on how many subscribers you can have.

If you want to receive more cool updates like this please sign up to my mailing list. When you do sign up you will receive two free e-books that I wrote.

I currently use Aweber because they’re probably the most reliable. Never heard of Mailchimp until I read this post.

@Melvin I think all three of them are the big players in email marketing domain. I do like Aweber. They have an easy interface. I really liked that they called the next day to see if I had any questions that they could answer. I just think that was pretty cool. Greg Ellison
