WordPress 2.8.5 was released yesterday
This release helps with alot of security problems. I would say that everyone should install. It also looks like 2.9 is around the corner because they are looking for beta testers for it. I have updated. I think it is good that open source web application has so much attention that WordPress does. Here are the major security changes in WordPress 2.8.5.
- A fix for the Trackback Denial-of-Service attack that is currently being seen.
- Removal of areas within the code where php code in variables was evaluated.
- Switched the file upload functionality to be whitelisted for all users including Admins.
- Retiring of the two importers of Tag data from old plugins.
Have you updated your WordPress blog? If you haven’t you are just telling the hackers and script kiddies to come in.

I would have it updated then not. It is just a button you have to press so WordPress will install the update. Greg Ellison
I guess Microsoft and iTunes have trained me to expect many updates. I am in the habit now of just hitting the update button whenever one if available. I am glad it is so easy to upgrade through the WP admin dashboard.
