Page Rank Update and Life Update

I did a page rank check for this blog, and it is down. The page rank is now 2 / 10 which it was a 3 before. There are probably a lot of reasons it went down. One reason could be I don’t post as much and traffic is going down. This is still a some what active blog but not a really active blog like posting every day which I use to do.

My close date on the house is Feb. 18th which is coming soon. The mortgage company is requiring me to do a roof inspection but there is snow on it. There home inspector for the bank didn’t because there was snow. My home inspector didn’t do a roof inspection because of snow. The bank home inspector and my home inspector did a inside look of the attic which they didn’t find any leaks. So we need to get a roofing company to clear the snow and then have my home inspector to inspect the roof to send to the bank. Which sucks.

When you buy a house there are a lot of little fees that can add up at the beginning. Right now I am at $1,400. There is a home inspection, down payment for the house, deposit for the morgage company. I can’t wait to finish and move in. It is a very awesome house. It has a lot of room to grow into.

Aweber Milestone Today

I was looking at my Aweber account and saw that I hit the 300th person for my mailing list. I just want to say thank you everyone that has signed up to it. How I can help you? What kind of problems are you having? Is it blogging, computer related problems?

I like the mailing list because I can send out my RSS feed to everyone on that list, and if I have something important to say then I can do an email broadcast to the list. It is a very handy tool to have in the online world. The only draw back is you have to stay with the email list provider because you have the established list. You can’t just delete the account and have everyone go to another provider because they all need to opt back in to the list. You are going to loose the people that are on your list when you do that.

Speech Recognition Software For Your Blog

The one post on video blogging that I did the other day I used Dragon Naturally Speaking for this. It actually was very easy to use. I had to train it at first but it wasn’t bad. I just talked in the Mic and Dragon will dictate for me. I had to read through it to make sure everything was fine.

I think this is the perfect solution for people that can’t type well or have problems spelling. When I type you will see me write the sentence out then go into word so I can check the grammar and spelling. With Dragon Naturally Speaking this gives me an ease of mind. This will this will also let me turn out a blog post faster.

With with the Dragon NaturallySpeaking setup I have the audio going through a USB audio adapter then attach to the USB adapter I have microphone that I got from Walmart. On the top of all of my windows I have the Dragon NaturallySpeaking toolbar. If I don’t want to dictate then I will use the hotkey of the + which will shutoff the microphone in Dragon. I would really invest in this piece of software.

What Do You Need for Video Blogging

What do you really need to do video blogging? The real answer is not much.

1. You can use a web camera. If you want to do an update about your life or if you just want to talk about a topic then a web camera is a very good option. You can buy them pretty cheaply also. I would go with a Logitech brand because I have never had a problem with them or you can go with a no frills web camera like the Generic USB 6 LED PC Webcam Camera.

2. You can use a digital camera. With a Digital Camera you can take pictures and video on most point and shoot models. The camera that I like and have is an Kodak Easy Share. Most models have the picture and video.

3. Another device you can use is called the flip video camcorder. The flip video camera is one of the expensive devices that you can buy for your video blogging set up. Most video bloggers will use this point and shoot camcorder because it is HD as very light portable video camcorder. We have other devices like the Kodak zI8.

You have at least three different options for video blogging. When I do video blogging I’ll use my flip video camcorder and when I want to take pictures I will use my Kodak EasyShare camera. I would also buy a tripod for your camera or camcorder.

It Is My Blog And I Can Do What I Want

This is my blog and I should be able to do what I want with it. Some company shouldn’t be interfering with it. One of the companies that I deal with said that they don’t want the paypal information on the income reports. They still don’t want it when all of the information is blacked out.

Here is a little of the email that went to everyone: there area many reasons this is bad– not the least of which is that the world is full of hackers. Let’s not give them any information they should not have. I think they have something against people showing what they are making.

I can see this might be bad because the IRS can see how much you are making but I don’t see how the hackers can steal your data if they can’t see anything. If you are blacking their information out and your information is no where to be seen I don’t think hackers are really come into play there.

This is just one example in a long list of things that you can and can’t do. It is a tipping point I think for me. Nobody should be telling me what I can and can’t do on my blog. Should I stay or leave?

Do You Really Need A Check List

So Today I saw that Darren Rowse has a new ebook out for the bloggers that need a checklist to write some content.

It is suppose to help you with the following:

1.Writing — How to write engaging compelling posts.
2.Scannability — How to ensure your posts are easy to scan read.
3.Search engine optimization (SEO) — How to write posts that Google will like.
4.Grammar — How to avoid errors that undermine your credibility.

I say you should want to write what you think is important to you and once you write articles that you like people will find your articles. You can do titles for the sections in your blog post for better scanability so people can scan the article and read what sections that they want to. You also should be downloading an SEO plugin for your blog. There are a lot of free ones out there. The one that I am using is called ALL IN ONE SEO.

If someone is going correct me on my grammer they are going into the delete box for comments. You want to look at a blog with grammer mistakes look at Shoemoney’s blog.

Some Good News For This Blog

I was looking at the page rank for this website to my surprise it was PR 3. I don’t know when it happened but I think it is cool. It has been a PR 0 for the longest time.

Some of the servers have the PR 3 for the blog and some don’t so maybe some people won’t see the page rank. It looks like the majority is PR3.

POOR MANS VIDEO BLOGGING SETUP

Here is the video of the poor mans video blogging setup that I have at my apartment. I should get a flip video camcorder or expensive hd one, but I would probably opt in getting a flip because it is the least amount of money and the time to upload video is not that long.

Writers Block? Do You Have It?

I have it most days haha that why my posts are late lately. I was reading a post on someones blog called I Don’t Have Anything to Blog for Today, Help!.

I think he is true on all of the points that he posted. If I have a writers block I will go read other people post in my RSS reader, go look at Google Trends. I will also see if I have taken any new pictures. There are a lot of different areas where you can get a post ideas.

If I don’t have anything really to talk about I will write a paid post. Could that be the poor post that Melvin talks about harming my blog. At my life right know if I don’t have anything to say I will just not make a post for the day.

You can be walking down to your local gas station and bam an idea for a post hits you. That has happened before. When I am at work it comes to me sometimes. I always carry a pen with me in my car just for this reason.
