I did a post called Links around the internet. It looks like people love link love kind of posts. Here is a screen shot of the websites that brought people to the post.

I wasn’t expecting cnn being one of the top referrers to the post but I was on the top list of blogs linking back to the story. Here is the screen shot of that.

You can see how track backs help spread your post so you reach greater audience of visitors. CNN probably helped with Google, Bing picking up the post also. Twitter can help also for bringing in visitors, and when you comment and if they use Commentluv people might be interest in the post. Track backs and where you are linking to will help you bring in visitors also. What do you think about this?

Do you have privacy policy?

If you have Google Adsense you are required to have a privacy policy on your blog / website. A privacy policy is a legal document that disclose how a party retains, processes, discloses, and purges customer’s data. Do you have a privacy policy? If you don’t have one Google can shut you down.

If you don’t want to write one here is a plugin for a Privacy Policy for your Word Press blog. You can download the plugin at www.synclastic.com/plugins/privacy-policy/. I haven’t tried it but it looks like it works well to create a privacy policy for Google Adsense.

Here is my Privacy Policy that I use on my blog you can find that at www.cnyfindit.com/privacy_policy.html. I found it on some site before and I thought it worked out nicely for it. You can use my privacy policy as an sample privacy policy for your blog or website.

Too Many Plugins Syndrome

I think we get into this mindset that more is better and that goes along with our plugins also. Is having more better? I don’t think so. If you keep on installing plugins on your blog you are going to make your blog slow down other plugins will not work. I watched a video by Matt Cutts where he only had like 4 plugins on his blog. That is being really minimalist. Here is a picture of my plugins that I have on this blog.

KeywordLuv and why you should install it

Today I installed KeywordLuv on this blog, because I like to spread the love. This equates to hopefully more comments on this blog. The plugin KeywordLuv helps your visitors rank well for the keywords they use for thier website. The plugin separats their name from their keywords in the link to their website.

Plus this blog is a dofollow and I also use commentLuv. Have anyonse else implemented KeywordLuv on their blog? How has it helped your comments on your blog? If you haven’t installed it then you can download at scratch99.com

Update – It looks like it works what I have tested, but I think I have too many comment section plugins. I have commentluv, keywordluv, Aweber newsletter signup, and the other plugin that will email you if someone comments on the post. That is alot of comment plugins. So I think I am going to deactivate it. It is in the right mindset of spreading the love to your fellow commentor. If you don’t have commentluv then give keywordluv a try. I think with commentlove, being a dofollow blog I am spreading the love alright. I am going to uninstall it. When you delete keywordluv it doesn’t hurt your comments.

You have too many ads on your site!!!

When I am reading a blog I will notice the ads on the website. Some sites have ok amount but other people have way too many. You are not a big named blog and you shouldn’t have an amount that a big blog should have. I agree that you should have ads on your blog if you want to but not a lot of them. I think I have an alright amount of ads for my blog. I have two 125 x 125 and two 468 x 60 banners. Some think I don’t even have any Google Adsense on this blog, but I do. How many banners ads do you guys have?

Your visitors might turn away from your site because of the ads. You can also destract your visitors from reading your post. The beginner bloggers will think I put more ads on I will make more money. This might be true that you will make a lot of money but I think this is the worst thinking ever. When you start to blog it should be learning the ropes of trying to get a blog to be successful. Trying to make money online should an after thought and not the primary focus of your blog. It should be third or 4th thing you should be thinking about. What do you all think about this? Do you think some websites have way to many ads on their website?

Your blog isn’t working right!!!

When you put your blog or website together you should be looking at the page with mulitple browser to make sure they are working. I will look at the page in Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Safari. If it passes those then I think I am good. You could also try Opera, and Chrome.

There are websites where you can try the page on multiple browsers with click of the mouse and different resolutions also. I think this is awesome because some people design doesn’t work in 800 x 600 because they just design the website for higher resolution monitors like 1024 or 1280. You need to be worried about the different sizes. You should be looking at your stats to see what kind of browsers and the resoltuion that your visitors are going to. One website where you can look at different operating systems, and different browsers is called www.browsershots.org. Are you guys looking at your blog on different resolutions and browsers?

[Plugin: WP-Affiliate] plugin doesn’t work anymore with WP 2.8

When I clicked on one of the new links that I put in it wasn’t working. It would bring you to a 404 Page on this blog. I searched Google and found a forum posting about the problem that I was having. On the WordPress Forums member 0xCAFE found the solution to it. If you want to read the forum posting then Click Here.

You have to re-save the permalink structure so that WP refreshes its cached list of permalinks.
Just go to Settings > Permalinks and hit Save.

After I resaved the permalinks it started to work so I think I am good now.

I bought a $39 plugin called OIO Publisher

So on Sunday 8/31/2009 I bought OIO Publisher. I have tried Google AD Manager and I think the process to add banners to the site was really convoluted and hard. I also watched the YouTube video of Lisa from www.2createawebsite.com. She showed how to setup OIO Publisher and it is a great video. If you want to see the video then Click Here. I got the OIO Publisher for $39 because I used a Coupon code from a site that I found. The original price of the plugin is $47. That is not a bad price for it. If you want to buy OIO Publisher please use the Coupon TERRA-GREG. With this coupon you can get a $10 off of the price so it will be $37.

I got the plugin because I wanted an easier way to add advertising to my blog. I don’t have to add or do anything because this software does it by itself. I don’t think I have gone over board with ads on this site. On my blog I have 2 125 x 125 banners, 468 x 60 banner at the bottom of the current post for the day, and a 468 x 60 at the bottom of the page. Then all other posts have a 468 x 60 banner just on the post page. I can put this in the mix but at a later time. Do you think this site has a lot of banners on it?
