GeoTargetting Ads on the Smart Phones

So I was listening to some dave mathews band on pandora on my Motorola Droid Phone and saw this ad. Here is the picture that I took of the ad on the phone.

It is an ad saying East Syracuse we recomment and then it is a furniture place in central new york. I think this is cool but kind of scary because it can tailor the ads to your location. It is good for advertisers around my area. I thought it was also funny because I really never paid any attention to the ads before. I wonder if it uses the GPS on the phone or the zip in the registration on pandora.

If you are a local business you are trying to get word on your business then this geo target ad stuff is right for you. This just popped in my head when I saw this. What do you think about the geo targetting ads.

Youtube New Design

I am looking at Youtube watching a video, and to be honest I don’t like the new design. I think it is to simplistic for my taste. What do you think of Youtube design? I like the service and the videos so don’t get me wrong about YouTube I just don’t like the new design that they changed to. I like the old design.

Maybe I am weird and I shouldn’t be complaining about YouTube.

Do you credit what you take from the internet

I was watching a news program on CNN about how one website took a news story but didn’t give proper credit to the original news website. Here is the question for you. Do you credit what you take from the internet? The website that took the story said they gave proper credit by linking to the original website but they are saying no they didn’t.

I know I will search for a topic that I am writing about and go to Google Images to find the image that I like best. I know this is not right and I don’t give credit all the time. I had one person write a comment saying he or she was the original owner and please give credit which I did do.

You can give a link to the website
You can put copy right under the image with the owners name and website
You can ask for permission by emailing the owner
You can find websites with Creative Commons license – One website that you can go to is www.flickr.com/creativecommons.
You can buy a monthly membership to a Image Stock websites like Stock.XCHNG.

There are a lot of ways to give credit to a post or images that you get from the internet. We just need to be more vigil about what we do. How do you do it?

Corey Haim Child Star Dead at 38

So when people heard of the death of child star Corey Haim they started to search on Google to find more information about him and how he died. With doing this it helped propel Corey to become number one on Google Trends yesterday.

The LAPD said he apparently overdosed and it could have possibly been accidental. He had a hard life in battling substance abuse even Corey Feldman had a hard time with drugs. You could have seen him in Reality show that the two Corey’s did that he has on drugs.

He was in a bunch of movies and some of them are The Lost Boys, Lucas, and Firstborn. If you want to see his biography then Click Here

It is very sad to see these celebrities dieing. You have grown up with them and now they are dead. It is very sad .

Google Android on AT&T Wireless is a Thumbs down

It looks like a lot of people don’t like there Google Phones with AT&T. The phone that they are selling is called Motorola Backflip. They have changed this phone. They are not using Google’s search instead of Yahoo search engine. A lot of users are complaining how some of the regular features are not there or they simply don’t work and get error messages.

I think this is a very poor decision on AT&T’s part. They should have left it alone and not mess with it. They don’t want to be open source and they don’t users to be free to do what they want on the phone. This is very bad of you AT&T. What do you think about this?

YouTube Safety Mode

I think this is a really good step to help stop kids from seeing inappropriate material online. I know some videos shouldn’t bee seen by younger kids. Here are couple of screenshots of the new YouTube Safety Mode. You can find the safety mode link at the bottom of all videos. You just need to click on link.

It is not that hard to activate the Safety Mode. You just need to know that is is not 100 percent accurate to catch all inappropriate material on Youtube. You should also be watching what your kid is doing online.

Gmail Buzz / Google Buzz

I think Google Buzz is sort of like the Google Wave. Has that really taken off like they thought it was.

Google Says Google Buzz is “a new way to start conversations about the things you find interesting and share updates, photos, videos and more. Buzz is built right into Gmail, so there’s nothing to set up — you’re automatically following the people you email and chat with the most.” You can also get Google buzz on your phone.

What do you think of the Google Buzz? I haven’t seen it in my Gmail but they said they are going to release it a few people then in the next couple of days everyone else will get it. I can’t wait to try it out. It will be fun or painfully aweful.

New Facebook Design

The other day I was looking on Facebook and saw that they changed the design of the website. I saw some comments that people don’t like the design of it. I think it is pretty good design. What do you think about it?

What I like about it is that you don’t have the bar at the bottom anymore everything is on the left hand side. You can see what friend is online. There is better notifications on friend request, messages, and notifications. I just like all around.
