Can’t shutdown, log off, restart computer

I got a ticket for a computer that had active desktop message and couldn’t recover the desktop. When I redid the profile I noticed the user couldn’t shutdown, log off, or restart the computer. In the event viewer I got an Event ID of 1073 which is The attempt to “action” “machine name” failed. I reprepped the computer changed the hard drive, and power supply. The second reprep the last application was internet explorer 7 after that I couldn’t log off, restart or shutdown.

When I got done with the third reprep I left out Internet Explorer 7 and I could log off with my profile and the users profile. I am not sure what is with Internet Explorer 7 on this computer. I am just writing to see if this has ever happened to anyone else and what fixed it for you.

    found issue!!!
there are some services that are set (ticked) to interact with the desktop.
deselect this option and all is back to normal

    regards
