Doing a factory reset would not fix your issue. You will need to get the keyboard on the laptop fixed. You can buy the dell keyboards for your model on ebay and then find someone to fix it for you. Maybe go into the BIOS to see if you can disable the keyboard. Hope this helps. Thanks Greg

Hi greg! i have a dell insprion 1540 or something like that and my keyboard recently stopped working which prompted me to go buy a wireless keyboard that works just fine with it. But when i start my laptop i get like a beeping noise and it seems as if one of the keys are stuck because when it comes to the password page i cant put in my password because the key is automatically doing it for me. If i do a factory reset will this help the problem? everything works fine on the computer just the keyboard is tripping.. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi, I have problem with my Inspiron 6000 and find your website here...
When you say "The key combination is CRTL + F11 pushing the keys at the same time at the the dell screen during post", do you mean by "during post" ? is it the same with during startup?

TIA

[...] 1. The top post was a blog post about my friend’s laptop. The laptop is a dell inspiron 6000, and I did an OS recovery on it. The laptop had a huge virus, spyware, and malware on it. The best solution was to just reprep the laptop. If you ever need to know how to do it then you might want to check out http://www.gregellison.net/general/dell-inspiron-6000-os-recovery/ [...]

10x man, i have looked for that information.
I might add a little tip, i had problems loading the recovery partition with left ctrl + F11, strangly just when i hit the right ctrl + F11 it worked.
So i dont know if the problem is with the laptop or a general problem, but any1 who's trying to do it dont give up and try it both ways :)
