- June 13, 2008 Luther “Luke” Ellison, born March 30, 1926, of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of East Syracuse, NY, passed away Friday after a long illness. Luther retired from New Process Gear, a division of Chrysler Corp., after 30 years, and was a member of UAW local 624. Luther was a Past Commander of the American Legion Arthur Butler Post 359 in East Syracuse, NY, and was a former member of the East Syracuse Fire Dept. He served in the U.S. Navy & Naval Reserve, and was an active member of the USS Mount McKinley Association. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Luther is survived by his companion of 30 years, Eleanor Bartman of Port Orange, FL; his sons, Robert (Sharon) of East Syracuse, NY, Thomas (Betty) of Pompey, NY, and Eric (Racina) of East Syracuse, NY; along with seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800, Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
