Today is the day you must be 19 to buy cigarettes in Onondaga County

I think this is plain stupid that they would change the age limit on buying cigarettes. It is not going to stop anything with th school kids. They are going to find ways to get the cigarettes. They will have their parents buy them or they will ask the 19 year olds at school to buy them. They can also steal them from their parents. One good things is that they put where a 18 year old serving in the military can buy them.

In the stores the employees have to post signs talking about the age increase. If the stores are caught selling to 18 and younger they will have fines ranging from $300 to $1,000 for the first violation, and $500 to $1,500 for subsequent offenses. What does everyone think about this? Good or Bad?

It doesn’t bother me too much since I don’t smoke ;) and I’m over 19.

I don’t think they should change. I also find it funny that they let 18 year old in the military, smoke. If they didn’t no one would volunteer. lol

It doesn’t bother me because I don’t smoke, but I think it is stupid because it is not going to stop high school kids from getting their hands on a cigarette. Greg Ellison
