What is RSS?
What is RSS
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS allows your visitors to get your posts on their computer instead of visiting your website.
How to Subscribe to a RSS feed
If you want to subscribe to an RSS feed then you need to get a feed reader program. I use two different kinds of RSS Readers. I use Google Reader because when I open a website my homepage is IGoogle which I can view my RSS subscriptions. At a glance I can view all of the top sites that I visit daily. You can also download Google Reader for your desktop but you will need to install Adobe Air. I also downloaded a program called FeedDemon which has a really nice GUI and it is very easy to use.
You need to take the websites RSS URL and enter into your Google Reader and FeedDemon. My RSS URL is http://www.gregellison.net/feed/ which redirects to http://feeds.feedburner.com/GregEllison. When you are done entering the RSS url you will be subscribed and you get their posts in your RSS reader.
How to Publish RSS feed
If you want to publish a feed one of the best websites is Feed Burner. I use this for all my blogs. All you have to do is type in your feed URL from your website and then pick feed title, and feed address. I use Greg Ellison as the feed title and for the Feed Address I use http://feeds.feedburner.com/GregEllison.
To monetize your RSS feed you can use Google Adsense and they will display Google Adsense banners on your RSS Feed, but you will need to convert your feedburner to feedproxy.google.com\your name. I don’t know if they are taking any new people.
