I ditto Stephen's take on forums. Growing your blog is important in order to reel-in traffic into a forum.

Now I don't know how many visitors he gets every day, but if I were in his shoes I would probably wait until the site gets a few thousand hits per day. The most important think when creating a forum is to get people to promote it for you. If you have no blogging friends no one will promote it for free.

So I recommend him to start talking more with bloggers within his niche and build a relationship while at the same time continue to drawing traffic to his site.

When he has both traffic and relationship they will solve the problem for him. Sure it takes time, but personally I would rather wait 2-3 months instead of publishing a forum no one visits.

Hi Greg!
It's cool way to promote yet maintain your standpoint. I think it is definitely beneficial for a lot of bloggers. Essentially it can be really productive for the forum. All the best, guys!

The thing about Ryan from LovingTech is that he seems to have a plan and he *takes action* on it, which is crucial. I have also endorsed the LovingTech forum and I'm still doing so (they have a link in my sidebar on all my pages) and I myself have over 100 posts on the forum too, so I enjoy checking it out every now and then. Unfortunately I don't have so much time to hang out there as I wish I did, but I do check it out from time to time.
