What do you think of Problogger.com?

Picture9

Darren Rowse from Problogger has just created a forum for his site and the address is problogger.com. I would join in a heart beat if it was free, but Darren made it a paid forum. Here is my take on it I don’t think it is worth paying $1.95 a month. I liked his 31 day challenge forum because it was free and people had some good information to talk about.

He has already sold the forum to 1,872+ members to this forum. Once you are an authority person in your niche people will buy anything from you and people are buying a lot of his things.

Here is what David Risely says it is a steal because it is 1.95 and it will weed out non bloggers and the bottom feeders. He has already joined to it. If you want to read his review about it then Click Here for David Risley Problogger.com Review.

Grizzly on the other hand doesn’t think it is a good idea. He think Darren is just stealing your money and having forum admins that don’t know what they are talking about. If you want to read his review then Click Here for Grizzy Problogger.com review.

Hopefully it is not full of people that don’t know anything, but they have admin that know what they are doing and that can teach everyone to become a better blogger. There are a lot of free forums out there that deals with blogging, internet marketing so you just have to search them out. What does everyone think about this? Are you going to join?

I joined the community, but i seriously lacks the presence of ‘pros’. Darren needs to ensure that he has enough skilled staff to keep sharing the best bloggin tips and give advice.

As of now, it’s full of newbie who ‘seem’ to be helping each other. Unlike his 30 days book, I don’t see a similar value in this forum..

Let’s see if I change my mind in near future ;)

I have not joined. I might have if it had been free, but I don’t want to pay just to hear the obvious stuff. I’m already aware that I’d have more traffic if I stopped procrastinating and posted more often! ;)

I actually thought it was a $2 registration fee, but it seems it’s a montly subscription. Either way, I won’t join.

I’m already a member of an excellent blog-teaching program that I enjoy and where you get your teaching from the pro’s, and not from other newbies in a forum, as is the case with the problogger forum as I understand (since there’s not enough pro-bloggers in there to teach newbies).

I don’t think I’d be joining. Can the forum be previewed in any way? I hate jumping into something if I can’t see what I’m paying for.

I’m currently a member, having joined the soon after it was announced. As it’s a community that is so new, time will tell which direction it ends up going and the quality of what you can learn. So far it appears to be very similar to many of the other internet marketing/blogging forums available for free.

However, it’s only $1.95 right now which is low enough that you’re not risking that much money. I think that after a few months we’ll be able to see much better whether it’s worth it or not.

I think it is a great idea to make money (2000 x 1.95 = 3900) a month. Since he wont have the time to manage it by himself he decided to hire a few moderators to handle it for him. Another great great method to make more money without having to spend a minute of work, but it will result in everyone truly making money leaving the forum since it only teaches the basics.

I think you will get all the information by simply reading his book. Maybe it will change in a few months, but I rest my case until then.

    Thanks for your post.

    A few comments and clarifications.

On the member numbers – its not as high as it looks. We’re currently sitting on 1600 paid members – there’s members in the total that you see on the front page of the forum that are not fully paid up but registered for an account without confirming with a payment.

In terms of our admins – I’ve confidence in them. Some people have taken some cheap and ill-informed shots but if I didn’t believe in my team I wouldn’t have put them in place. The feedback that our team gets has also been really positive so far.

in terms of whether the forum will be valuable for people – I guess that’ll vary from person to person depending upon their situation.

We’ve had a great first week – members come from all types of blogs, experience levels, parts of the world and as a result there are some rich discussions going on so far and some great collaboration.

There certainly are some ‘newbies’ in the membership – a forum to help bloggers improve is always going to be attractive to that group – but there are also some experienced bloggers sharing some real wisdom. The bloggers may not be A-listers or famous – but there have been quite a few threads with bloggers talking about how they’ve grown significant blogs.

Ultimately time will tell how the forum succeeds. As Big Manta says – it’s new and as with any new community is finding its feet. We intend to add a few new features in the next week or two and will evolve it to try to add as much value as we can as time goes on.

thanks for all your comments. I understand that the subscription fee won’t suit everyone – we’re doing it for a variety of reasons that I’ve attempted to explain – but it won’t suit everyone – I’m at peace with that.

The more I read about the ProBlogger Forum, the more I am tempted to join. I mean its only $25 a year.

  15. valentinaNo Gravatar on October 11th, 2009 11:56 am

    I joined.

At $1.95 a month its worth checking it out for a few months at least and see if its something I want to continue.

Now, I think that there are many like me who are taking the same approach. The danger is that when something is that inexpensive, we may have less of a commitment to visit the forum on a regular basis, and, as the amount is so nominal, may not cancel.

I have been a member for several weeks and even though I admit there are many many newbies, there are still quite a few people who have some serious sites.

This is why I joined to make connections and have already made a few I would not of met if it was not for the forum.

It is also good just to check out any idea that could be floating around and for less than a tank of petrol for a whole years membership who cares!

Paid forums are good it keeps out the spammers and the Oh I am blogging for the fun of it people VOMIT! – Well most of them anyway…..
