Is Google Adsense good for you?

Coin Jar

I think Google Adsense is great for everyone to the first timers to the probloggers that are out there. You just don’t want a lot of Google Adsense ads on your blog. You can only have three Google Ads on a page. You will see probloggers like Darren Rowse from www.problogger.net still use Google Adsense. He uses Google Adsense into his RSS Feed, or sometimes you will see a small 125 X 125 banner of a Google Adsense on his blog.

The down side of Google Adsense and any service like them is that you need a lot of traffic if you want to be successful at it. It took me from March 2005 to May 2009 to get my first check from Google. My check was for $106.95. If you want a better click through then you need to change things around. I know I need test Google Adsense on this blog to see how other sizes compare to the regular 468 x 60 banners that I use. The last couple of months I have received around $10 – $12 a month from Google Adsense on my websites. I know I can do better. What size Google Adsense banners do you use on your blog? How has it performed for you? Is Google Adsense good for you and your blog?

Lot of pro bloggers not recommended of using 468×60 AdSense anymore since it is among the famous AdSense code size and well known by most blogger. BTW manage to get around $5-$10/month for each blog (I own 3 blog).

I tried out AdBrite a few weeks on the same spots as I do AdSense (but only showed either one of course) – AdBrit was terrible, not a single click in the period, at all.

AdSense on the other hand, gave me $4 last month and will give me at least $8 this month.

For low traffic blogs, affiliate sales is probably where the money is.

Oh, I’m using a 468×60 ad in my header, a 120×600 skyscraper in the menu and a few link units every now and then, usually between the post and comments.

    Hi Greg,

I just recently introduced Google Adsense a week ago on my 10-month blog since I abandoned the idea a month after the blog went live mainly because the click through rate was poor. Back then, I used the 468×60 which I thought wasn’t really effective.

I’m running some tests on the ad positioning and have used some codes to make Adsense utilize my keywords in order to show highly relevant ads on the pages. Hopefully, I would get some results (crossed-fingers).

I’ve been using 336×268 (Forgot the size) in my blog and float it into every single post. The size of the ads would give a little impact on the click through rate, but the most important part will be traffic, organic traffic. If you receive tons of organic traffic daily, you should get maximum clicks no matter how’s your ads size is. Just my 2 cent. :)

@EarningStep, great earning you have in a month, mind to share your 3 sites URL? ;)

    Regards,
    Lee
