On call Friday and Saturday
Well I didn’t get called in or I didn’t get a call on Friday. At around 4:41 AM on Saturday, I got a call from Operations saying that they had a problem with one of the software applications. The vendor wanted the name of the server. I gave them the server name. I had to speak with the vendor because they couldn’t get onto the server or they wanted to speak with someone with more technical knowledge. I couldn’t understand the vendor because of the accent. I don’t know enough about the different services on this server so I wasn’t much help. I called my supervisor to ask him if there were any other servers. I ended up rebooting the server, and the operations did something on their end and everything worked in the end.
My first experience and I ended up calling my supervisor. How bad is that?
