I was reading an article on yahoo that says 57.8 million potentially harmful programs were not removed because the users like spyware or don’t know how to get ride of it. 71.7 million potentially harmful programs were removed by the users. The total number was 129.5 million potentially unwanted programs detected by the MSRT. This is why we are still employed because users are being complacent or don’t want to know how to get ride of this stuff.

The most prevalent rogue security software that was detected was Win32/Winfixer. What Winfixer does it tells the users that they have been infected with spyware and that they should pay money to download their spyware program to get ride of it. There are tones of free anti spyware programs out there. The other spyware that are plaguing people are search tool bars and they are HotBar and ZangoSearchAssistant. Also users are downloading Trojan downloader’s.
