Electrovaya Powerpad 130 Review

My work has over 100 mobilecarts so the nurses and clinical staff can do their assements on patients. These mobilecarts are IBM Laptops with an extended battery attached to the laptops. There is around 60 mobilecarts with the Electrovaya Powerpad 130 in them. We had to return around 15 to 20 of them because they were shutting down on the staff so no outlet power was running through the cart and then the laptop was on its internal battery so it would make the laptop run out of power with in two hours and the staff had to plug them in. Electrovaya did RMA them and gave new ones, but I don’t like how many bad ones we got.

We have three mobilecarts sitting in our shop right now with the Electrovaya Powerpads that are shutting down on discharging. When you plug them in then it won’t allow the outlet electricity to flow and charge the laptop and the extended battery. We also can’t get them returned because they are out of the warranty period. The warranty period is only a year. The product is crap and it dies within a year. I would not buy this product again from this company.

Here are two pictures of the Electrovaya Powerpad 130 that I took. In these picture you can also see another cart waiting for some other kind of external battery to be bought because the Electrovaya isn’t working right.

I do like the tips that they used. They used a round curved tip so it is easy to push the laptops back all of the way. We got APC external battery for couple of mobilecarts and they have a straight tip that didn’t work out that good. We had to drill a hole so the users could get a finger in to turn on the laptop. We haven’t had any issues with the APC external batteries that we bought. We just had a lot of issues with these Electrovaya batteries.

This is not a notebook it is an extended battery for your laptop. It was a negative post about the product. The IBM laptops I have no issues about. It was just the extended battery for the laptop. Thanks Greg Ellison
