Embed a YouTube video into your Power Point Presentation

I had a user have a problem with embedding a video into her or his Power Point presentation. The main cause iof his problem was because he had a path that was more then 128 Characters. When he would go and play the video it will just show up as a white box where the video should have been playing. So I corrected that problem.

There are different ways to embed a YouTube video in a Microsoft Power Point presentation. The first question that you want to ask your self is do you want to be tied to an internet connection or not. If you want to be tied to a internet coonection that you can embed a the video using the URL. If you don’t want to use the internet then you can download the YouTube video and copy them to your desktop or folder for your Power Point Presentation.

If you want to use your internet connection then there are two ways to embed a Youtube video. The first way that I am going to talk about is using a YouTube Wizard plug-in. You can download it at skp.mvps.org/youtube.htm. What this will do is give you a insert button that all you have to do is paste the YouTube URL of the video and it will insert the video for you. I didn’t even know it was available until I was searching for a way to embed a Youtube Video. The other way is to go to Control ToolBox by going to view then you want to pick more controls and then you want to pick shockwave flash control. You then want to copy the YouTube video URL but in the URL delete “watch?” and change the = sign to a ⁄ so it would look like http://www.youtube.com/v/lJnb5kgoTkA. You want to put the URL in the movie field, the loop is false and playing is false.

With those two methods your video should like the following in your Power Point Presentation.

The other way is downloading the YouTube video at Zamzar.com or MediaConverter.org and they are free websites. They will have different formats that you can save the YouTube video into. I like to save them into WMV. You then just go to Insert and then pick Movies and Sound. You then want to pick Movies from file and then go to the location of your movie file. It will embed the movie file that is stored on your computer to the Power Point presentation.
