Start Outlook in the Folder List or Shortcuts view
The user didn’t know that she could hit the folder list and the next time she went into outlook it would go back to that view that she had, but here is a permanent solution if she always wants to look at the folder list or short cuts view.
Exit Outlook.
Open the Windows registry editor.
Browse to My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\WunderBar
Note If WunderBar is not shown, right-click the Options folder, point to New, click Key, and then type WunderBar.
Double-click BootModule.
Note If BootModule is not shown, right-click WunderBar, point to New, click DWORD Value, and then type BootModule.
Type the number that matches the default view that you want Outlook to start in.
0 Mail
5 Folder List
6 Shortcuts
Note To use Shortcuts as the default view, a shortcut to the Inbox must be on the Shortcuts list.
Exit Windows registry editor, and then start Outlook.
